MT5 is the successor of the MT4 platform and has far superior functions and technology to MT4. Although MT4 is more popular at the moment (due to length of time available on the market), eventually MT5 will completely replace it.

Software is available for both Windows and Mac desktop computers. Apps are also available for mobiles and tablets.

Yes, all pricing on the MT4 and MT5 platforms is live with no delays.

No, both MT4 and MT5 are offered completely free of charge

Yes, the Webtrader is an online version of the MT4 and MT5 platforms, you can access it via this link: https://www.fpmarkets.com/webtrader/

Go to the top menu and choose View -> Languages, and then select the required language. You will then need to close and reopen the platform.

The charts will always display the bid price. In order to see the Ask price, right click in the Chart and select Properties - Common and check the 'Show Ask Line' box.

The server time on the platform is either GMT + 2 or GMT + 3 depending on Daylight savings. This ensures the daily candles can follow the NY close times.

Open your platform and select File - Open Data Folder - MQL4 - Experts and then paste the .ex4 file. When you close and reopen the platform your EA should then show in the Navigator window under 'Expert Advisors'.

Ensure 'AutoTrading' is enabled on your top toolbar. Drag the EA over from the Navigator Window to your chart, and under the 'Common' tab make sure 'Allow Live Trading' is checked. If your EA is successfully attached you will see a smiley face icon in the top right corner of your chart.

Select Tools - Options - Server tab and then select the 'Change' option next to the password.

Hover your mouse over the account number in the Navigator window, and it will show your balance and leverage.

Select the 'Account History' tab and then right click and select 'Custom Period'. Enter the dates you want the statement for and then select 'OK'. Then right click again and select 'Save As Report'. Your statement will then open as an HTML file.

Select Tools - History Centre and then select the instrument you want the data for. Then select the time frame and select Download. This will then download any available data to your chart. Please note, the data will not go as far back in time for the smaller time frames as it will for the higher time frames. Also note that all additional data comes from the MQ database, and we are not able to provide any further data.

First find your Metaquotes ID number from your mobile app (you will see it under Settings - Chat and Messages). Open your trading platform and select Tools - Options - Notifications and tick the 'Enable Push Notification' box. Then enter your MQID. You will see you have a Test option to make sure you receive the notification to your mobile.

Drag the indicator over from the Navigator window onto your chart and it will automatically fix to the chart.

Double click on the instrument you wish to trade in the Market Watch Window and the New Order window will appear.

Please visit our Live Chat or email our support team ([email protected]) with the amount you wish to deposit and we will take care of it for you

On our MT4 and MT5 accounts we offer CFDs in Forex, Commodities, Metals and Indices. You can see a full list of available products here: https://www.fpmarkets.com/products/forex-trading/forex-products/.

CFD stands for 'Contract for Difference'. When trading CFDs you are trading based on price speculation only, and you are not taking physical ownership of the underlying instrument.

The Forex market is open 24 hours a day, 5 days a week.

We offer ECN pricing on our MT4 and MT5 accounts. This means pricing is streamed directly from our LPs with zero interference from our side. Our IRESS accounts offer direct market access (DMA) to over 1,000 equities.

We source our prices directly from a range of leading financial institutions, including HSBC, BNP Paribas and Commerzbank. All our LPs can be found on our homepage (https://www.fpmarkets.com/)

The bid price is the price at which you will place a sell order, and the ask price is the price at which you will place a buy order. The difference between these two prices is the spread.

Swap(MT4/5)

Swap is a form of interest that is applied to any positions that are held overnight. It can be either positive or negative, depending on what you are trading and the side of your position.

We base our swap rates on our own overnight funding costs available at our liquidity providers.

Right click in the Market Watch window on the symbol you wish to know the rates for, and select 'Specifications'. You will then see the long and short swap rates if you scroll down. Note, the rates for Forex are displayed in points.

Positions that are held open over Wednesday night will incur a triple swap charge. This is to account for the settlement of trades over the weekend, where no swap rates are charged since the market is closed.

Swap is charged at 00:00 for any trades that are still open from the previous day.

Swap is calculated as: (pip value for 1 lot x No of lots x swap rate x number of nights)/ 10. Please note the answer will be in the quote (second) currency of the pair you are trading.
