It is possible, however, to avoid confusion we advise having all your trading accounts under the same Client Area profile, using the same email address.
We require a proof of identity and a proof of residence document from you. Proof of identity can be a valid passport, driving license or national ID card. As a proof of residence, we can accept a utility bill or bank statement showing your full name and address, and that is dated within the last six months.

Yes, we offer joint accounts between two individuals. Both parties can deposit/withdraw and trade on the account. To open a SMSF account, select "Joint" on the registration page and follow the steps.
A Self-Managed Superannuation Fund (SMSF) is different to other super funds as it means its trustees, who are usually also the beneficiaries, take direct control of their super investments and run it for their own benefit without the need for a professional fund manager. To open a SMSF account, select "SMSF account" on the registration page and follow the steps.
Yes, you can have up to ten trading accounts per platform. You can open additional accounts anytime via your Clients Area (https://portal.fpmarkets.com/) by selecting ‘Accounts Summary’ and then ‘Add Live Account’.
To close your trading account please email [email protected] and request a full withdrawal of funds if you haven’t already done so.
We will disable your account if there is zero balance and no activity for more than three months. Unlike other brokers, we will not charge an admin fee for this, and we are able to reactivate it anytime you wish to resume your trading. Client funds are held with a AAA rated bank such as National Australia Bank or Commonwealth Bank of Australia. All client funds are held in segregated accounts. All monies are dealt with according to the guidance of the Australian Client Money Rules under the Corporations Act.
Yes. Regulations require the company to be adequately capitalized at all times and it also ensures that client funds are held in line with Australian Client Money Laws. Client money rules state that retail clients funds are not used for hedging purposes and to be held separately from company's funds. ASIC also requires that all funds are reconciled each day.

We run a suitability test in order to evaluate whether our products are appropriate for you. We are required to run this test for every new client under our current regulatory environment (ASIC).
Due to regulatory requirements, if transactions have been made on the account, we need to hold client records for seven years. Please be assured that your details will be held under all data protection requirements under Australian law . We will also be sure to remove you from all mailing lists.
ASIC does not offer an Investor Compensation Fund, however in case of company bankruptcy clients would be paid from company's own funds.

If you have used several deposit methods, you will need to withdraw the same amount you deposited back to each one, starting with any card deposits. Once card deposits have been withdrawn back to the same card, you will make the remaining withdrawals in the order that the deposits were made. You can then choose any of the previously used methods to withdraw profits.
You can withdraw to any bank account provided the account is in your own name.

MT5 is the successor of the MT4 platform and has far superior functions and technology to MT4. Although MT4 is more popular at the moment (due to length of time available on the market), eventually MT5 will completely replace it.
Software is available for both Windows and Mac desktop computers. Apps are also available for mobiles and tablets.

Go to the top menu and choose View -> Languages, and then select the required language. You will then need to close and reopen the platform.
The charts will always display the bid price. In order to see the Ask price, right click in the Chart and select Properties – Common and check the ‘Show Ask Line’ box.
The server time on the platform is either GMT + 2 or GMT + 3 depending on Daylight savings. This ensures the daily candles can follow the NY close times.
Open your platform and select File – Open Data Folder – MQL4 – Experts and then paste the .ex4 file. When you close and reopen the platform your EA should then show in the Navigator window under ‘Expert Advisors’.
Ensure ‘AutoTrading’ is enabled on your top toolbar. Drag the EA over from the Navigator Window to your chart, and under the ‘Common’ tab make sure ‘Allow Live Trading’ is checked. If your EA is successfully attached you will see a smiley face icon in the top right corner of your chart.
Select Tools – Options – Server tab and then select the ‘Change’ option next to the password.
Hover your mouse over the account number in the Navigator window, and it will show your balance and leverage.
Select the ‘Account History’ tab and then right click and select ‘Custom Period’. Enter the dates you want the statement for and then select ‘OK’. Then right click again and select ‘Save As Report’. Your statement will then open as an HTML file.
Select Tools – History Centre and then select the instrument you want the data for. Then select the time frame and select Download. This will then download any available data to your chart. Please note, the data will not go as far back in time for the smaller time frames as it will for the higher time frames. Also note that all additional data comes from the MQ database, and we are not able to provide any further data.
First find your Metaquotes ID number from your mobile app (you will see it under Settings – Chat and Messages). Open your trading platform and select Tools – Options – Notifications and tick the ‘Enable Push Notification’ box. Then enter your MQID. You will see you have a Test option to make sure you receive the notification to your mobile.
Drag the indicator over from the Navigator window onto your chart and it will automatically fix to the chart.
Double click on the instrument you wish to trade in the Market Watch Window and the New Order window will appear.

We have three account sizes, 1-25K, 25K to 50K and 50K plus. This corresponds to 0.10% with a $10 minimum, 0.09% with a $9 minimum and 0.08% with no minimum, this applies for all ASX trading.
This is when your Gross Liquidation Value (GLV) falls to 50% of your margin requirements. Stop out is not an automated process on the Iress platform, instead it is managed by our risk team who will contact you if required.
Maximum leverage for Forex is 1:500 on FP Markets Pro Account. For stocks the leverage is based on the particular characteristics of the stock in question. Usually large cap stocks are on 5% to 20% margin rates
Depending on the time of day we receive your application, we may be able to build your account the same day. If we receive the application later in the day, it will be done the next business day for you.
Unfortunately not, the Iress platform is only available via your Browser.
Unfortunately this is not possible, as there are some stocks that are too risky to offer leverage on but we will allow you to trade them. You will still be charged financing on these positions even though you are not utilising leverage.
The trades widget in iress will allow you to pull 3 months worth of trade data only, no commission or charges. FP Markets provides a daily, monthly and tax year end statement to all clients via a PDF email attachments. Custom spreadsheets can be provided upon request to [email protected] or through the client portal.

Technical Issues / Troubleshooting
This message is coming directly from your PC, unfortunately we would not have your proxy server details our side. You may at one time have installed a proxy server on your computer to access Websites etc.
This means one or more of the login details are incorrect. Please go back to the main login window and ensure your account number and password are correct. If you are copying and pasting the password, please make sure you are not copying an extra space over at the end). Invalid account could also mean an expired demo or an archived live account.
This means the platform was not able to connect to the FP Markets trading server. Please go back to the main login window and make sure you are selecting the correct server from the drop down box.
Please right click in the Market Watch window and select ‘Show all’.
This usually means you are logging in with the Investor (Read Only) Password. To be able to trade, you need to login to your account with the Master Password, which is the one you received in the first email from us. If you no longer have it, you can reset the password via your Client Area.
You will receive this message if the platform is trying to perform two actions at the same time, to resolve please close and reopen your platform.
Please ensure you are using a stable internet connection, not public WiFi etc. Please also ensure you have only loaded your charts with what is necessary for your trading (ie have the minimum amount of indicators etc). You can also try removing symbols you are not trading from the Market Watch, and only having the minimum number of charts open.
It happens sometimes (after Windows update or after MT4 update). We suggest you to make a backup and save your MT4 Templates on your PC: Charts – Template – Save Template. You can upload your saved templates in the following way once they are missing: Charts – Template – Load Template
Please ensure your ‘Allow AutoTrading’ button at the top of your platform is selected and showing Green. Also, from the Tools – Options – Expert Advisors window, make sure the top ‘Allow Automated Trading’ is ticked. If this still doesn’t work, reload the EA, and under the ‘Common’ tab make sure ‘Allow Live Trading’ is also ticked there.
Make sure you find the correct symbols for your account. For example, if you are trading on a Raw account, make sure the symbols have .r at the end.
Apple security settings will only allow installation of applications directly from the Mac store. Try going to System Preferences – Security and Privacy, and then on the ‘General’ tab select the lock icon in the bottom left corner. This will unlock the General Preference panel, and you can select ‘Anywhere’ from the menu.
Please make sure you change all your FP Markets passwords immediately. If you need to change your email address please send the request to [email protected] and they will take care of it for you.
This error message usually appears if it is outside trading hours, or the instrument is no longer available to trade.
This means the trade requires a higher margin that what is available in your free margin. You may reduce the lot size, increase your leverage or add funds to your account.
Our demo accounts reflect as accurately as possible the conditions of the live account. They are a great tool for familiarizing yourself with the functions of the platform. Although demo accounts present real market conditions and prices, please keep in mind that they are simulations and cannot always reasonably reflect all of the market conditions as during highly volatile or illiquid periods (e.g. market openings, news announcements) they may not behave in the same manner as live accounts.

CFD stands for ‘Contract for Difference’. When trading CFDs you are trading based on price speculation only, and you are not taking physical ownership of the underlying instrument.

We offer ECN pricing on our MT4 and MT5 accounts. This means pricing is streamed directly from our LPs with zero interference from our side. Our IRESS accounts offer direct market access (DMA) to over 1,000 equities.
We source our prices directly from a range of leading financial institutions. All our liquidity sources can be found on our homepage.
The bid price is the price at which you will place a sell order, and the ask price is the price at which you will place a buy order. The difference between these two prices is the spread.
Since we offer ECN pricing we are not able to guarantee stop losses. All orders are filled at the first available price in the market once they have been triggered.
We offer ECN pricing. This means pricing is streamed directly from our top-tier liquidity providers (LPs).
There is zero commission on the Standard account, starting from 1.0 pip mark up on the spread. Raw account spreads start from 0.0pip, and a 6 USD round turn commission.
Yes, we have a trade desk who are responsible to monitor our risk and exposure etc. Since we offer ECN pricing, there is no dealing desk intervention or re quotes with any of your trades.
Yes. Micro lots are available to all MT4 and MT5 account types.
This will depend on the instrument you are trading. For Forex, the maximum lots size is 50 per trade.

When your margin level falls to 100% you will be in margin call, and we will attempt to contact you via email to inform you. Stop out is at 50% margin level, and trades will be automatically closed starting from those with the largest loss.

In terms of functionality the demo and real accounts are the same. Please note however that trades placed on a demo account are not sent to the market for execution, and therefore you may receive faster fills or less slippage.
We do not place a minimum level for your stop loss/take profit or pending orders. You can place these at any distance away from the current price

Swap(MT4/5)
Swap is a form of interest that is applied to any positions that are held overnight. It can be either positive or negative, depending on what you are trading and the side of your position.
We base our swap rates on our own overnight funding costs available at our liquidity providers.
Right click in the Market Watch window on the symbol you wish to know the rates for, and select ‘Specifications’. You will then see the long and short swap rates if you scroll down. Note, the rates for Forex are displayed in points.
Positions that are held open over Wednesday night will incur a triple swap charge. This is to account for the settlement of trades over the weekend, where no swap rates are charged since the market is closed.
Swap is charged at 00:00 for any trades that are still open from the previous day.
Swap is calculated as: (pip value for 1 lot x No of lots x swap rate x number of nights)/ 10. Please note the answer will be in the quote (second) currency of the pair you are trading.

An Introducing broker (IB) acts primarily as a representative for investors and is usually in direct contact with their clients. An IB will introduce clients to brokers by phone, email contact, seminars, events or online activity.
