Xcel Energy Inc. operates as a utility holding company with headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota, serving more than 3.7 million electric customers and 2.1 million natural gas customers in Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota, Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico in 2019. It consists of four operating subsidiaries: Northern States Power-Minnesota, Northern States Power-Wisconsin, Public Service Company of Colorado, and Southwestern Public Service Co. Xcel Energy announced in 2018 it would deliver 100 percent clean, carbon-free electricity by 2050, with an 80 percent carbon reduction by 2035(from 2005 levels). The company is the first one in the US who sets such a goal. XCEL ENERGY Inc. has tripled its market cap from 12$B to 37$B, and the stock prices increased from $24 per share to almost $70. The company also raised its dividend in line with its earnings growth. XCEL ENERGY Inc. in 2021 reported solid quarterly earnings of $0.58 per share compared to $0.54 per share last year.
