Volkswagen AG Profile

Volkswagen AG (Ord) is a German multinational automotive manufacturing corporation headquartered in Lower Saxony, Germany. Volkswagen AG is owned by Porsche SE, which holds a stake of 53.3% of the company’s ordinary shares. VOLKSWAGON designs and manufactures passenger vehicles, trucks, and light commercial vehicles, including buses. The Volkswagen Group comprises twelve brands, including Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT, ŠKODA, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche, Ducati, and Volkswagen commercial vehicles, Scania and MAN. Volkswagen AG is currently the leading automobile manufacturer by revenue globally with $254.1B (USD). Approximately 2.8 million vehicles were sold in 2020, down from 3.4 million units in 2019. Following its “Emissiongate” scandal, Volkswagen AG has suffered, among others, the loss of its credibility, over $20B (USD) in fines and legal settlements in numerous countries, recall and reparation of over 11 million vehicles, criminal charges for corporate crimes and loss of customers to Toyota and Honda. Since then, Volkswagen AG eliminated approximately 30.000 jobs worldwide. Volkswagen AG (Ord) is traded as a component of the DAX Index on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (FWB) and has a market cap of $124.2B (USD). Most recently, Volkswagen AG secured a controlling 75% stake in a venture with China's JAC. The decision has rattled Volkswagen's other Chinese partners, SAIC Motor and FAW, which want the German group to commit more models to their ventures.

Share CFD Trading FAQ

Each investor owning shares of a company is also owning fragments of the company. A quite simple way to explain what a stock is is basically when a company divides itself into several shares and then it makes a part of these equities available to the public, at a price. Each investor owning shares of a company is owning fragments of the company.

While shares represent units of ownership within a company Contracts for Difference (CFDs) allow traders to speculate on the future share price fluctuations of an underlying asset. Thus when trading CFDs traders do not physically own the underlying asset. CFDs are available for a range of underlying assets, such as shares, commodities, and foreign exchange, and indices.
