Virtu Financial, Inc. is a leading provider of financial services and products that leverages cutting-edge technology to deliver innovative, transparent trading solutions to its clients and liquidity to the global markets. Virtu operates on more than 235 exchanges, markets, and dark pools in 36 countries. Some of these exchanges include NYSE Euronext, NASDAQ, and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. The company is a designated market maker on the NYSE and NYSE Amex. Virtu’s total revenues decreased 39.4% to USD 549.0M for the second quarter of 2021, driven primarily by lower trading volumes in U.S. equities, compared to USD 905.9M for the same period in 2020, when volumes were significantly elevated due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Trading income, net, decreased 48.3% to USD 384.8M for this quarter, compared to USD 744.0M for the same period in 2020. Basic earnings per share for the second quarter of 2021 was $0.51, and diluted earnings per share were $0.50, compared to basic earnings per share of $1.59 and diluted earnings per share of $1.58 for the same period in 2020.
