History of EUR/GBP
Euro was released on January 1, 1999, after more than a decade of preparations. It was initially an "invisible" currency, only being used for accounting and electronic payments for the first three years. When new coins and banknotes went into circulation on January 1, 2002, it was the largest monetary changeover in history. Henry VII of England issued the first-pound currency in 1489. It wasn't until 1694, when the Bank of England was established, that Pound notes began to appear in circulation in England. Notes made by hand in 1971, when the United Kingdom opened up the British pound to speculation, among other currencies, are still in existence
