History of the British Pound
Has its origins in Roman-era continental Europe. It gets its name from the Latin word "poundus," which means "weight." The $ symbol is derived from an ornate L in the constellation Libra. The pound was a unit of currency in Anglo-Saxon England as early as 775AD, equal to one pound of silver.
History of the Danish Krone
Coins made in honor of and by the Danish crown are called krone, which means "crown." They were made in 1619, when they were first made, and the word "krone" means "crown." For example, at this point in time, Denmark changed its currency from the old Dane Rigsdaler to the new Danish Krone. The Krone was then tied to the Gold Standard.
