The Iress suite of platforms are truly market-leading tools, offering an unparalleled trading experience with unrestricted access to global markets. Iress has pioneered access to Direct Market Access (DMA) execution technology and continues to provide innovative trading solutions.
Traders can choose from a wide range of financial markets, including shares, forex, commodities, metals, and indices. Additionally, Iress provides access to real-time market data, financial news, and a wide range of time intervals that cater to intraday traders as well as long term investors.
FP Markets offers three trading platforms, Iress ViewPoint, Iress Investor and Iress Trader.
FP Markets also offers mobile trading solutions through Iress Mobile. You can now manage your trading on a mobile or tablet, via iPhone or Android.
Advanced Trading Tools
All three platforms come packed with innovative trading tools designed for professional traders.
More than 50 technical indicators are available.
Trend Indicators measure direction and strength of a trend. Moving averages are popular indicators as is the MACD (Moving Average Convergence Divergence).
Momentum Indicators identify the rate of change in price movement over time. The relative strength index (RSI) is one of the most popular in this field, so is the stochastics oscillator.
Volatility Indicators measure the state of price movement, regardless of price direction. Indicators such as Bollinger Bands are common within this domain. Average True Range, or ATR, is another popular measure.
Iress also offers in excess of 50 chart drawing tools. Having the option to annotate charts that cater to your trading needs is a huge bonus. Advanced technical indicators and chart drawing studies are particularly important for traders with a focus on technical analysis.

Iress ViewPoint: A Closer Look
While a comprehensive overview is beyond the scope of this article, let’s unwrap Iress ViewPoint a little more and look at some of its basic features.
Customisation:
A worksheet, a separated tab fixed on the upper panel (red arrow – figure 1.A), allows traders to display their workspace to suit.
Double-clicking on the worksheet permits traders to rename the worksheet.
The central border, as you can see, provides the option of splitting the screen, adding a widget and a template.
(FIGURE 1.A)
Selecting Divide Your Screen will open a carve menu. As shown in figure 1.B, splitting screens vertically, horizontally, into four windows or even as a shortcut to add quote widgets (2×2 Quotes) is an option.
(FIGURE 1.B)
Once you have carved your workspace to your preference, you are free to add widgets. This can be done by simply clicking on the plus symbol displayed in the centre of the window.
You are also free to adjust the size of individual windows by clicking on the frame and adjusting to suit.
Another feature worth highlighting is the crosshair function, accessed by holding down the left clicker on your mouse. This enables traders to quickly add a watchlist, a quote, split the screens, and add widgets (figure 1.C).
(FIGURE 1.C)
Trading basics:
As demonstrated in figure 1.D, the Buy/Sell buttons, found at the top of the page (red arrow), provide traders access to the curtain order ticket.
Here you can select which account to trade from if you have access to multiple accounts (green arrow). In the Security field, enter the market of interest, which, in the case of the example below, is Apple (blue arrow).
(FIGURE 1.D)
After selecting the security of choice, an advanced order management ticket will expand.
As illustrated in figure 1.E, the order entry ticket is ultimately comprised of two areas: the order attributes on the right and a summary section to the left.
The Bid and Ask prices are listed (red); traders can buy or sell by volume or value (blue), select the order type (purple): limit or market and input the limit price (yellow) if a limit order is selected.
Should you wish to clear the order details, click the Clear function (green arrow) and it will revert volume back to zero.
Once you’re good to go, you’re free to place the order.
