General FAQ

How long does it take to open a live account?

It’s easy! You just need a few minutes to complete our simple registration process, provide required documentation, and your account will be ready in a matter of hours.

How soon can I start trading?

The account verification process may take up to 1 business day if we require additional documents or if you’re opening a corporate or trust account. If your account is already verified, you’ll be able to start trading as soon as the account is funded.

What can I trade with FP Markets?

FP Markets offers access to trade global market CFDs across equities, forex, indices, futures, commodities and shares.

Can I open multiple accounts?

What type of accounts can I open?

We support the following account types: We offer Individual, Joint, Sole Trader, Company, Individual Trustee and Corporate Trustee. At the first step of application page please select the relevant account type and complete the registration process following the instructions.

What is the minimum opening balance for a live account?

For IRESS CFD accounts the minimum opening balance is $1,000 AUD or $1,000 in the base currency. For MT4 the minimum opening balance is $200 AUD or $200 in the base currency.

Do I need to download any software before I start trading?

The IRESS Viewpoint platform does not need any software to run as its built on HTML 5 which can run on any browser. If you are still running IRESSTrader which is built on Java then you will just need to keep your Java regularly updated (keep in mind that Google Chrome no longer supports Java). If you have an MT4 Forex account, downloading and installation of the MT4 platform is required on your PC and mobile devices.

Can I trade on a Mobile?

Yes! Both Iress and MT4 have a mobile platform that you can use to trade on the go. To download the platform please search IRESS or Meta trader4 on the android or apple app store.

Funding FAQs

What payment methods can I use to fund my account?

We currently accept wire transfers, BPay, cheques, Neteller and credit cards (Visa/Master/UnionPay). We are working on more alternative funding gateways to be provided in the future. Transfers from other brokers.

Which currencies do you accept for deposits?
We offer multiple funding currencies for our accounts which include AUD, USD, EUR, GBP, SGD, HKD, JPY, NZD, CHF, CAD and CNY.
How long does it take for deposits to be credited?
Depends on the deposit method you used – Wire transfers generally take between 1 – 3 business days depending on what time the funds were deposited or if it is a overseas funds transfer, BPay normally arrives next day, whereas credit card deposits are normally the quickest depending if we need verification.
How long do withdrawals take?

BPay and Wire Transfer Withdrawals normally takes up to 2 business days to arrive if all the necessary information is provided. Credit card refunds up to the net aggregate amount of the deposits can be made which can take up to 4-5 business days depending on the banking institution.

How do I make a withdrawal?

If you’re withdrawing for the first time, it is likely that we’ll need to verify your identity. This is normally done by re-sending a copy of a government issued photo ID such as a drivers license, proof of age card or passport from your primary email address, along with a filled and signed withdrawal request form. For future withdrawals all you’ll need to do is just send an email to [email protected]  from the email that we have on file along with your account number and withdrawal amount to inform us.

Can I request a withdrawal when I have open positions?

You can; given the remaining equity after withdrawal does not make your margin level fall below 100%

How much do you charge for withdrawals?

Please note that we do not charge any fees for processing Australian withdrawals. However, there is a $20 per transaction for International bank transfers and 1.8% for credit cards are payable to banks & Credit card companies.

Security

What is a proof of I.D. and residence document?

A valid proof of residence document is any recent utility bills, local authority bills, credit card or bank statement from within the last 3 months, where your name or entity type and residential address can be clearly verified. Alternatively a valid Government license showing your full name and address, keep in mind that if your address is on the back of the card then we will need a copy of the front and back of the card.

Why are you requesting information about my investment knowledge and trading experience during registration?

We run a suitability test in order to evaluate whether our products are appropriate for you. We are required by law to run this test for every new client under our current regulatory environment (ASIC).

Where are my deposits held and is my money safe?

Client funds are held with National Australian Bank , one of the Big 4 Banks of Australia. FP Markets, in accordance with regulations holds client money at a nominated account separate to FP Markets money from client money. Client money is paid into the FP Markets segregated account and can only be used as permitted under the strict client money provisions. All monies are dealt with according to the guidance of the Australian Client Money Rules under the Corporations Act.

Who is FP Markets regulated by?

FP Markets is regulated by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) and operates under an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) – number 286354. AFSL holders, such as FP Markets, must meet many ongoing obligations.

My Accounts FAQ

Can I manage multiple accounts?
Yes. To open an additional account (or multiple additional) simply log into your client portal and open it from there. Alternatively you can send an email to [email protected] stating your account name, existing account number and your request.
I forgot my trading password. What should I do?

To retrieve or reset your password, you can either give us a call on 1300 376 233 or send an email to [email protected]. Verifications of identity will be required.

I have two accounts, and I made a deposit in the wrong account, how can I transfer the funds to my other account?
To make an internal transfer, send an email to [email protected] stating the account name, account numbers and amount to be transferred.
How do I change the leverage for my account?

If you have an MT4 account then you can request this within the client portal. Alternatively you can send an email to [email protected] clearly stating your account number, account name and your desired leverage. Using the IRESS platform you can only choose between a leveraged account and an non-leveraged account which would of been selected during the application process. If you wish to switch between a leverage or non-leverage account then please email [email protected] with your request.

MT4 FAQs

After installing MT4 on my Mac my system blocked the application because it came from “unknown developer”. What should I do?

By default Apple has changed the security settings to only allow installation of applications from the Mac App Store. In order to change this, please go to ‘System Preferences’ > ‘Security & Privacy”. On the ‘General’ Tab click the little lock in the lower left corner to unlock the general preference pane. Please select the “Anywhere” option from the menu, in order to allow applications to work.

I can't login into my MT4 (no connection/invalid account). What should I do?
  1. Please check that your internet connection and wifi connection is clear and running.
  2. Please check if you have any Anti-virus or Firewall software that may be blocking the software from connecting to the internet. You may need to disable these software temporarily if needed.
  3. Please select the correct server to log in. For example, if you are using the Demo, ensure you are connecting to the “Demo Server”.
  4. On the right bottom corner of the MT4 platform, click on the “connection bars” icon, click “Rescan servers”. If this does not change the server connection status, select another server centre and try again.

MT4 indicates context busy when I try to place an order. What should I do?

This usually happens when a second order is placed while the first order is still in process, most of the time caused by double clicking. To resolve this problem, simply restart your MetaTrader4 terminal by closing it and launching again.

How do I change my MT4 password?

On the top toolbar of your MT4 Platform, select “Tools” – “Options”, then click on “Change” next to the password Tab. Please enter your current password and the new password and then click OK to apply changes.

My EA is getting triggered but didn’t place any orders.

Check the Experts tab in the Terminal. If the EA is trying to place trades without success it will show an error number. Please inform us about the issue and give us the error number, so that we could find out what is wrong and fix it for you.

Where can I find the current swap rates?

Right click in the Market Watch window and select symbols. Click on ‘Properties’ for a specific trading symbol and it will give you all details including its swap rates.

Why did I get charged triple swap over night?

On every Wednesday banks and liquidity providers pre-charge triple swaps on all overnight positions for the incoming weekend. The reason for this is that financial institutions use a T+2 rule on FX settlements and Thursday will be the first day when trades are settled into next week.

Why am I seeing fewer products in Market Watch than what you advertise?

Simply right click in the Market Watch window and select ‘Show all’

What is your server time?

Our server time for MT4 is GMT+3. Basically this means the closing time of New York session (5pm) will be 0AM on our servers. Occasionally moving to GMT +2 in line with New York Daylight savings

What leverage do you offer for MT4 accounts?

We offer flexible leverage for MT4 accounts, from 1:1 to 1:500.

Can I trade micro lots?

Yes. Micro lots are available to all MT4 account types.

Who is your Liquidity provider?

We source our prices directly from a range of leading financial institutions primarily located in London.

Can I apply for a Swap Free account?

Unfortunately as a ECN broker we do not have control over financing fees; therefore we’re not able to cover these costs for our clients.
